GORE-TEX TransRockies Run, Stage 1 - 21M in 2:36:28.5 (4th Place, Run3 Solo)
* What do I say? That was disastrous. Severe reaction to the altitude. The course was not difficult, got into 2nd behind Max by the Mile and thought I was set-up for a great run, just chillin', but soon enough by 14-minutes, my run was over. It was a slog. I have never experienced the slo-motion running I experienced. I wanted to drop at the first aid station (7M), then for sure I was going to drop at the second aid station (15M), but had a good patch and they said there was an aid station in 3 miles, so I said f- it. At the final aid station they called out 3.9M to go and that sucked, but it afforded me time to catch a team in the final mile and finish up well, doing interval running. Am tremendously fit, but the altitude and stress was too much. Called it a day after this and flew home.

Comus Cross Country 5K in 17:43 (5:20, 5:44 [11:04], 6:38)
* Goal: run faster than 2011 time of 18:06.. .mission accomplished in a big way. Got out really well, without warm-up, and I knew the lack of warm-up would cause some tying up towards the final mile, but I kept pressing a good pace. The trails were tough and all the uphill climbs, battled some severe fatigue in the final 800m, but kept it together to run the 3rd fastest time on this course. The Trials NB guys from last year ran 17:16, so this is a good time. Won by 1:13 over some high school runners and locals.

20km easy up Oella Ave and up Bonnie Branch in 1:29:44
* 2,544 total elevation change; 1,250 ft of climbing; last 5km in 21:55... opted to run mid-day after last night's effort. Started out rough, but noted the mental change in that I have to get this work in if I am going to succeed and run my goals. My early side-stitch from last night's race quickly dissipated and I was able to relax and climb well up Oella. Stop-and-go most of the way, but had some very strong stretches of running, feeling my muscles gaining strength with every mile. Finished up tremendously well. Not sure how I'll run 20-24 miles around these city streets because of the hills, but should be quite a challenge.
