7 Mile Run around Bartram Park in 47:15
Total
55 Miles

*Race pretty much went as planned. I was contacted by the Atlanta Track Club, notifying me that I would be on Team "A". However, I knew that, at best, I could run 52:00. So, I replied saying exactly that, "listen, if 52-flat would benefit Team 'A', than I am all for it. If not, please adjust and place me in Team 'B'."

Thankfully, I was placed on the second squad and we all ran at the same ability level, which pushed me to my pace goal of 5:35 per mile. I started off comfortably, felt pretty good at 3M, then had some rough issues with my left leg from 3-6M, stopped and stretched a couple of times before I made my final charge up Hart Bridge to catch at least 8-12 guys/girls and move into the top placing for the team. Only one runner out-kicked me off the bridge, but I was very surprised to see 52:00 as I crossed the line. Perhaps worth a 50:05 on a calm day.

Ah, and so the race details: never have I raced in such windy conditions. The wind was abysmal. It stood me straight up several times. At 5K there was a gorgeous section of waterfront that had close to 6-8' waves crashing into us. Just amazing. Then came the monstrous bridge. Wow, it was like running in tornado, as the wind would whip around from all different angles and strengths. At one point, I had to rest my hand on the median to balance myself and keep myself from falling. Most of the bridge I ran hunched over and just amazed that I made it to the finish line, as at one point I just wanted to stop because it was useless to continue running. Anyhow, all is good.
