* A good start to the week with a good decision to stay in town and run with Jake on Merrifield. We blitzed the course, ran strongly uphill, floated down, and really worked well the final 4.5 miles or so... I was feeling very good, surprisingly no fatigue from yesterday's long run. Good signs. We hit Mile 5-8 at 6-min pace and then strided out to a 5:40 last mile. Nice.

* Disappointing in that I have lost fitness due to the flu-like symptoms last week. I repeated the 3 x 12 Min. workout, albeit during some horrendous heat and humidity, but managed 5-sec per mile difference in the wrong direction. I did run strongly, however, but I did realize I was a bit weak, muscularly and with power. I aim to improve that, but worked out with Rudy and in those conditions he was only to complete two reps (12:55/13:22), so I did not die as much as he did, relatively speaking. Need to keep working hard and keep the creativity (treadmill) to keep my mileage at high levels of sustainability.

* Finished up the week nicely, but am quite tired and beat up. Legs are a bit trashed, suffering from some major fatigue, as legs are a bit unresponsive, but the wife starts work this week and that should help me get back into a healthy and structured routine. We shall see, but great mileage week. Long run started out crappy, just feeling dead, no energy with very little sleep and/or rest. Anyway, by 80-minutes I started to naturally roll, like my body finally awakened and clicked off Mile 14 to 15 at 6:10, which impressed me. Finished up nicely as well.
