Memorial Day 0.5 Mile and Pool/BBQ
* My legs feel surprisingly very strong and very good. Very pleased with fitness and efforts. Get through this week and see what transpires over a VK. Not sure if it will be my strong suit on that particular terrain, but am ready to hurt.

7 miles steady out to Nixon Park with 679ft of gain in 54:21
* Transitioning into my next phase of training. Today was 40-60 min recovery and I felt so alive and full of running. Great signs. Left calf/post-tib a bit tight, but to be expected after Sunday's effort. Deciding on footwear for tomorrow.

9 mile workout with 5 miles in 33:51 + 4 x 800/300 Drill in 2:46/66, 2:43/64, 2:35/62, 2:36/63
* Heck of a workout. Once again, started out strongly, running crisp for the warm-up, perhaps a bit hard, but got into the 800/300 and was very smooth. #3 was stellar, just full of strength. Goal was 5, but on 4 did not progress. Goal race.

6 miles of regeneration around Lake Williams with 670ft of gain in 49:29
* Whoa. Looks like I definitely went too hard yesterday, but it was worth it. Basically just jogged the loop, feeling very strong, but just fatigued. Interesting how I have run up to 8 x 3:00 hard during a fartlek with no effects, but intervals are another story.

7 miles recovery down the Greenway with 602ft of elevation gain in 56:30
* Still not recovered. My right quad/piriformis is just fried, but hopefully loosening up. Long day of travel today, flying out at Noon to Charlotte and then driving the 2hrs to Burnsville. Going to be very interesting and very excited. We'll see...

USA Skyrunner Series - Quest for the Crest VK/10K in 40:50/1:18:49 with 3,092ft of gain
* Hell yeah. Exactly how I thought it would play out. Was a bit nervous that I wouldn't recover in time, but woke up and was 90% there.. crazy start with not much warm-up, as we were trapped on a mountain. Did about 10 stride-outs on a side trail and then took off chasing after Joe Gray and Matt Lipsey. Started gaining on them by 800m, and then caught and passed Lipsey and tucked in behind Joe at 1km. He started powering away, and I maintained best I could. Maybe a bit too much power-hiking, but I was cautious to not blow-up, as it was 82-degrees and wasn't sure if I'd hold up chasing Joe. Shut it off on the descent after tying my laces and just made sure I worked my form. 3rd in the 10K.

Rest & Recovery
* Well, thought I could run 15 miles today at Rocky Ridge, but instead it feels like I did 40 min of squats followed by 40 min of lunges. So, just spending the day with three crazy girls and a crazy wife. Couldn't be better.
Total
38 Miles with 5,564ft of Elevation Gain
